Deadline extended: Ensuring the legacy of the European Year of Volunteering

The European Year of Volunteering 2011 (EYV 2011) is successfully over. However, although the EYV 2011 has ended, our work continues. We must ensure the lasting legacy of the Year – at all levels – and therefore European Committtees of WAGGGS and WOSM circulate this letter with purpose to share with you information about the main outcomes of the Year and inform you of the actions which the Regions are currently undertaking on volunteering, which, as you know, is one of our areas of joint work during this Triennium.

The triennial highlight of Guiding and Scouting in Europe is here again. It’s time for Rovers and Rangers from across the continent to gather in Finland for a memorable meeting of cultures. Over 3500 participants from over 40 countries have registered for the event. Hundreds of volunteers have worked hard to deliver you a truly international event with plenty of exciting opportunities. 60 action-packed four-day paths around Finland, combined with the five-day camp at the adventurous Evo campsite in the middle of the forest, provide an excellent platform for an experience of a lifetime…

To facilitate the participation of NSAs or NSOs to Regional Events the Regional Office always tries to get funds from external sources and surely one of the main sources of funding for Scout and Guide activities is the Youth in Action Programme of the European Commission.

32 Scouts and Guides from 19 Scouting and Guiding Associations working with young people with disabilities or with young people with a migrant background from all over Europe met between 4 and 6 of May 2012 in Malta for the Ouverture Network Meeting in Malta.
