CALL FOR BIDS TO HOST – The Academy 2019 (Joint Communication 08 2018)

The Academy is a joint event of WAGGGS and WOSM working in partnership at European level, with key participation of volunteers and staff from both the European Scout Region of WOSM and the Europe Region WAGGGS.

The present Joint Communication invites interested associations of both Regions (National Scout Organisations of WOSM and Member Organisations WAGGGS) to indicate their interest to host The Academy 2018 by submitting a short paper which addresses the points indicated in Joint Communication 08 2018.

The deadline for submission of your bidding documentation is 7 September 2018.

The European Regions of the World Organization of the Socut Movement (WOSM) and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) is pleased to launch the present Call for Participants for The Academy 2018, which is scheduled to take place in Skopje, FYROM, from 30 October to 4 November 2018.

The Academy 2017

The Academy 2017 is a unique Scout and Guide event designed to enable participants to get high quality training and networking opportunities around the core priorities of the European Regions of WAGGGS and WOSM. The event is open to anyone holding a role at national level in a WAGGGS or WOSM Association, ranging from members of working groups up to Chief Commissioners.

Most Associations are likely to send participants that hold positions in specific areas of work including management (as Commissioners or board members), education or training (those responsible for programme/education/training), communication or representation (for instance in branding or advocacy).

The Academy 2017 will take take place in Esztergom, Hungary, from 31 October to 5 November 2017, hosted by Magyar Cserkészszövetség (the Hungarian Scout Association) and Magyar Cserkészlány Szövetség (the Association of Hungarian Girl Guides).

What is The Academy?

The Academy is the European Scout Region’s and the Europe Region WAGGGS’ unique Scout and Guide event designed to provide participants with high quality training and networking opportunities around the core priorities of the European Regions of WAGGGS and WOSM.

Who should attend The Academy?

The event is open to everyone holding a position at National Level in any of our Associations in the European Region, from members of particular working groups to Chief Commissioners.

Most associations will send participants that hold positions in specific areas of work. Previous Academies show that most are active in the field of Governance (as Commissioners, development team or board members), in the field of Educational Methods/Education (as trainers or those responsible for programme/education) or in the field of Representation (in communications or advocacy, for example). The Academy 2016 offers a broad range of sessions addressing matters of interest to all these different groups of participants.

[RENEWED CALL FOR BIDS] Hosting the Academy 2017

The European Scout Region of WOSM and the Europe Region WAGGGS are launching this Renewed Call for Bids to host The Academy 2017 due to the withdrawal of the sole bid received following the original call.

The Academy is a joint event of WOSM and WAGGGS working in partnership at European level, with key participation of volunteers and staff from both the Europe Region WAGGGS and the European Scout Region. Interested associations, NSOs or MOs, are invited to declare their interest to hosting this event by submitting a short paper (the bid) in reponse to the attached Joint Ciruclar.
