Thanks to a generous donation of CHF 1,000,000 from a donor who is an enthusiastic supporter of Guiding and Scouting in Europe, the Joint Committee – working in partnership with the European Scout Foundation, where the donation has been lodged – has been able to establish a Leadership Training Fund. The purpose of the Leadership Training Fund is to help bring together adult volunteers from across Europe in bi-lateral and multilateral training projects. We believe that increasingly, many MOs and NSOs/NSAs are keen to learn from each other, and this fund will help provide the means to make this a reality for many.

The day-to-day operation of the fund has been delegated to a team of highly qualified individuals. They are Johan Strid, Juris Ulmanis, Marion Rollan, Rob Valkenburg and Thomas Ertlthaler. The team is now busy working on the detail of how the fund will operate, considering the criteria that will be required for applicants to consider etc. however, we wanted to draw your attention to the creation of this new fund and to ask you to share the information with those involved in the delivery of training in your association.

We ask you to start thinking about possible training initiatives and projects that you might be keen to develop and run along with one or more other associations in Europe. The team wants to receive applications with immediate effect. These applications will, apart from being reviewed in their own right, also be used for defining the criteria for what projects should be supported.
