UPDATE – European Regional Events’ List 2018-2019 (Regional Circular 28 2018)

The European Scout Region of the World Ogranization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) is pleased to share with you an update of the list of proposed events agreed by the European Scout Committee. There may be some changes to the list, but is was felt important to share a comprehensive list as soon as possible to assist in your planning.

Regional Circular 28 2018 contains all currently available information of regional events planned to take place during the coming 12 months. Please make sure to monitor the event notices on this website to discover more details as they are released.

INVITATION to the 23rd European Scout Conference and the 16th European Guide and Scout Conference & CALL for Planning Team Members (Regional Circular 25 2018)

The European Scout Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) is happy to join Savez izvidaca Hrvatske (the Croatian Scout Association) to invite National Scout Organisations (NSOs) to participate in the 23rd European Scout Conference and additionally, with our colleagues in the Europe Region WAGGGS, to participate in the 16th European Guide and Scout Conference. The events will take place in Split, Croatia, from 24 to 28 August 2019.

The Committee’s message contained in Regional Circular 25 2018 has the following three elements:

  1. Information about the European Conferences
  2. Call for members of the planning team for the European Scout Conference
  3. Raising awareness of the need for diverse and competent nominations for the elections to the European Scout Committee

Please note that the deadline for nominations of candidates for the Conference Planning Team (point 2 above) is 1 November 2018.

Internship (CIP) – Roverway Assistant

Roverway 2018 is a European learning event for young people age 16-22. It is organised by WAGGGS, WOSM and Scouting Nederland. Roverway 2018 took place in the Netherlands from 23 July to 2 August. Over 4000 young people from all over Europe and beyond gathered for the event. It is a volunteer led event and relies on the passionate and hard work of 700 volunteers. WAGGGS is working on a long-term project (Lead the Way) aimed at empowering young people to deliver a relevant, exciting, accessible and learner led programme for Roverway participants. This should also match our mission and vision.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide organisational support to WAGGGS’ work related to Roverway 2018, focusing on support of volunteers to ensure they deliver a high-quality programme. You’ll work with the project manager to ensure organisational aspects are taken care of and internal information flows.

TIME FRAME

Start as soon as possible, preferably no later than 21 September 2018.  The contract will last for three months.

Interviews will take place on September 2018 at Rue de l’industrie 10, B-1000 Brussels, Belgium.

AVAILABILITY

Normal working hours are 7.5 hours per day Monday to Friday. You might also support delivery of events which require weekend and evening work. Compensatory leave days will be provided.

Applicants must already be living and have the right to work in Belgium.

REMUNERATION

  • EUR 1000 net per month
  • Meal vouchers of EUR 8 face value per week day worked (EUR 1.24  employee contribution is required)

Call for Partners for a DG Justice Project: A Safe from Harm Project (Regional Circular 21 2018)

The European Scout Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) is planning to submit an application for a “Safe from Harm Project” in response to a call launched by the European Union’s DG Justice. The funding application will be submitted at the European level by the WSB Europe Support Centre, Brussels. We are now reaching out to you as interested NSO/NSAs can become a partner to this project application.

To be a partner in this project, please check carefully the information and conditions specified in Regional Circular 21 2018. The deadline for your expressions of interest is Monday 17 September 2018.

CALL FOR BIDS TO HOST – the 16th European Scout & Guide Centre Managers’ Conference 2019 (joint Communication 09 2018)

Since 1989, managers of Guide & Scout Centres across Europe have gathered every two years at the European Guide & Scout Centre Managers’ Conference (ECMC). The 15th conference took place at Úlfljótsvatn Outdoor and Scout Centre, in Iceland, in October 2017 and brought together around 60 participants, planning team members and experts.

With the present Call for Bids to Host, the network of Centre Managers is inviting any interested National Scout Organisation of WOSM (NSO) or Member Organisation of WAGGGS (MO) or Scout/Guide Centre to consider hosting the 16th Conference in 2019.
