European Voluntary Service for Guides and Scouts in the view of 2011 European Year of Volunteering
The WOSM – European Region and the Europe Region WAGGGS jointly are now launching a European Voluntary Service project where some young volunteers from all around Europe will offer their time and service with the aim to ensure support to MOs and NSOs in the preparations and implementation of 2011, the European Year of Volunteering.
European Voluntary Service (EVS) is a fantastic opportunity for young people.
Through the Youth in Action Programme they can experience a volunteering period in a country other than their own.
The two Regions have agreed to create a new “collective EVS project” where 7 young people
(18-25 years old) will volunteer to ensure effective support for the contribution of Scouting and Guiding to 2011 European Year of Volunteering and in particular a direct support to MOs and NSOs who wish to work on this topic.
A full description of the volunteer positions is attached as .
In particular 2 volunteers will serve in the WSB-ERO in Brussels and 5 will work on the field with 5 MOs/NSOs who decide to join the project. The coordination of the volunteers will be ensured by the WOSM – European Regional Office with the collaboration of WAGGGS European Office. For that reason we ask to MOs/NSOs that are really willing to work on this issue two things: ANNEX A
1. To spread the information on these EVS positions to their young members and to partner organizations.
2. To think about the possibility to have a European volunteer working on 2011 EYV in their own offices.
The WOSM – European Regional Office, with the collaboration of WAGGGS European Office, will submit a new European Voluntary Service project application on 1 February 2010.
Candidatures for volunteers have to be sent by email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it no later than 17 January 2010.
If your MO/NSO is interested in hosting a volunteer, please contact Alix as soon as possible by email at amasson@scout.org
The deadline to receive candidatures to host volunteers is the 17 January 2010.
